I wouldn't want to give the #1 pick up - unless the prospects we're receiving are more than NHL ready, and won't require frequent trips to and from Rochester.

That said - I'd rather keep the pick. All things aside, after a season this historic for all the wrong reasons, I think we at least deserve the satisfaction of picking #1 overall.

I could see EDM giving Yakupov+Gagner, possibly a 2nd rounder...that could be pretty useful...

I just dont see it. Yes Yak has all the tools to be a great winger. The Sabres have Gagner in Ennis/Hodgson. The 2nd rd is not really needed at this point, the Sabres have too many picsk as it is IMO.

I think the Sabres should just draft Reinhart and use Ehrhoff+ to land a young forward prospect (Such as Yak)

I wouldn't take it. Those are peices to a mediocre team. Sabres need Reinhart.

Every year there is a rumor the team with the 1st pick (which we don't even have yet) wants to trade out

Anyone else think they would be better off sending Lieuwen back to Rochester to right the ship there and recall Hackett for here? This team is already a mess, so what difference will that make? Might as well give Rochester the best shot they have.

Any update on Enroth?? Tough to see what the injury could be - could be some sort of jammed knee? Looked more day-to-day, but it's tough to tell these things from video...

IMO, You bring your best players to the big club, regardless of how the minor club is doing.

And right now Lieuwen is better than Hackett. Let Hackett get all the starts now to see if he can get his game back.

Both may be up depending on the health status of Enroth.

True. However, EDM second is basically a late 1st rounder. Also, there is probably a good possibility of flipping Gagner for something like a 1st rounder in 2015...I think Yaks could be quite good given a change of coach, he's quite young and has TONS of potential...way too early to write him off.

I don't think we need another second line center and a potential first line winger. We needa first line center more than we need that package.

I think Yak could be good. However we have had this carousel of 2nd line centers in Buffalo for a better part of a decade. Roy, Connolly, Hodgson, Ennis etc.

It hasn't worked. We have a TON of potential on the blueline, now it's time to get a guy like Reinhart

Eklund's post should read "Any Team that has the #1 overall pick will entertain trading it" because like many have said in the last thread, it comes up every year. Since Buffalo is the statistical favorite, he just used their name. I don't think it works in anyone's favor for them to trade the #1 overall. You can get the player you feel is going to make a difference for a long time, or risk losing the player that is traded here because they didn't want to be here in the first place. Seems too risky for the reward.

Just a way to drum up hits.

It seems pretty risky to "assume" the Sabres will have the number one overall pick. They still have to win the lottery and remember... This is Buffalo we are talking about and Buffalo does not do well when it comes to winning and/ or luck....

A friend texted me saying it's looking like Enroth could be done for the year (I'm assuming he found this on twitter, but I can't check because I don't use Twitter).

Not sure on Neuvirth. But if Neuvirth isn't going to be out long term, I still think I'd rather see Hackett here as the backup and give Rochester a chance to make a good playoff push with Lieuwen.

Murray has said they want Rochester to make a push this year and having Lieuwen here hurts that.

Why ? Rochesters basically a feeder team. This might be a blessing in disguise.Enroth is average and Newie hasn't even made it thur a few games and something s wrong with him.Give the kids a taste of the big time and lets see how he does.
